“Wehavetotakesustainabilitydeeplytoheart,andwiththat,weareinitiatingthissustainabilityforum,”IntelCEOPatGelsingersaidinaninclusiveinterviewwithPeople’sDailyOnlineonthesidelinesoftheforum,notingthateverythingdigitalrunsonsemiconductorsandcomputing,andthatcomputinguseofenergyisbecominganincreasingportionoftheworld’senergyconsumption.

Inteliscommittedtobeingahundredpercentgreenenergyuserby2030,accordingtoGelsinger.Thecompanywillbetheleadinguserofsustainabilityineveryaspectofhowitrunsitsoperations.

Intelwillworkwiththesupplychaintoensurethatallitssuppliersmakeproductsitneedsinanenergy-savingandenvironmentallyfriendlymanner,hesaid,addingthatthecompanywillreachanetzerofootprintby2040.

Thecompanyistakingactivemeasurestodrivedigitaltransformationandgreendevelopmentwiththehelpoffivetechsuperpowers-compute,connectivity,infrastructure,AIandsensing.

IntelhasbeenacceleratingitsIDM2.0strategy.Gelsingersaidthecompany,asasemiconductorcompany,wouldredoubleeffortsinleadingtechnologiestobecomeafoundryfortheworld,andforthat,itoutlineda“five-nodes-in-four-yearsstrategy,”aimingtogomuchfasterforthetransistorinnovations.

Intel,havingbeeninChinaforalmostfourdecades,isproudoftherolethatithasplayedwithmanyofthelargestcompaniesindigitalChina,accordingtohim.

HesaidChina’suniformandconsistentmessageofopeningforbusinessgivesanopportunitytothecompany,whichalsohastheresponsibilitytodrivesustainableinnovation.

Thebestinnovationhappenswhencompanieshavedifferentcapabilitiesanddifferentperspectivescometogether,anddigitalinnovationiscentraltoIntel’sstrategyforthefuture,Gelsingernoted.

Lately,theInternationalMonetaryFunddowngradedtheglobalgrowthforecast,butprojectedthatChina’seconomywillgrowby5.2percentin2023.InternationalobserverssaidthatChina’sstrongeconomicgrowthaugurswellfortheworldandthecountrywillbeakeyengineforglobaleconomicgrowthamidmultiplechallengesfacingtheglobaleconomy.

Gelsingerbelievesthatit’sanencouragingtimeasChinaisrefocusingoneconomicgrowth.

“WeareexcitedthatwehavetheopportunitytobuildonthosemanydecadesofrelationshipswithmanyofthecustomersofChina.Wealsoseethisconsistentpositivemessageofopeningforbusinessandengagingwiththeworld,"hesaid,addingthatthisisagoodtimeforIntelChinawhichwantstobehelpingthedigitaleconomy,doingitasarealfocusontechnologyasaforceforgood,andbuildingonafuturethatismuchaboutthesustainabilityoftomorrowaswell.
